5 Ways to Incorporate Honey Into Your Daily Routine

In our fast-paced society, the demand for energy boosting products is evident. Over 90% of American adults drink some form of caffeine, most commonly from coffee, soda, or energy drinks. These caffeine sources are typically packed with high levels of sugar, artificial sweeteners, and excessive amounts of caffeine that can lead to energy crashes, dehydration, and heightened anxiety levels.

Natural honey is a perfect healthier alternative to these sugary beverages. Substituting or supplementing honey into your daily routine will ensure that your energy carries you throughout the day without that dreaded crash. The sustained energy boost comes from the slow release of fructose into the bloodstream, rather than the rapid absorption that comes after energy drink consumption.

  1. Pre-workout and Post-workout Replacement for Energy and Recover

Honey has been used and encouraged as an athletic supplement for millennia due to its energy boosting nutrients. In contrast to processed sugars, raw honey is digested with ease allowing it to be converted to energy rapidly. This energy source can improve your performance in high-intensity workouts. Consuming honey before exercise is even linked to higher endurance as it helps your body maintain balanced blood sugar levels. Additionally, the antioxidants and anti-inflammatory qualities assist with muscle soreness and can accelerate recovery.

  2. Enhance Your Breakfast

Although honey can enhance almost every meal or snack of the day, it fits especially well into the breakfast palate. Honey can be a great substitute for the overly-processed syrups that typically coat waffles, pancakes, and French toast. You can also add honey to your yogurt bowl, smoothie, or oatmeal. This replacement ensures you maintain the sweet taste you are craving while adding the natural benefits.

  3. Prevent Your Middle-of-the-Day Crash

Right around that 3-4 o'clock hour, it is easy to enter a slump. Energy levels are low as your lunch bump has already worn off, yet it's still 2-3 hours until dinner. Honey can be a great boost to help you conquer the rest of your day. Whether you consumed straight from the packet, added to your yogurt bowl, or drizzled on your granola, honey provides the perfect snack and solution to your afternoon energy crash.

  4. Add Honey To Your Beverages

Another way to incorporate honey into your daily diet is to add it to your beverages rather than your food. A combination of honey, water, and lemons can elevate and enhance your daily water consumption as well as your energy and digestion throughout the day. You can also add honey to your coffee or tea as a sweetener.

  5. Use As A Sweetener

Honey is frequently referred to as nature's sweetener. What better way to utilize honey than as a sweetener to make your desserts not only taste better, but also be more nutritious. Some desert recipes that incorporate honey as a natural source of sweetener are banana bread, honey bun cake, various types of cookies, or even to coat your cheesecake.
